I have known Sam for going on 10 years now. In a wide variety of capacities. A client, a singer-songwriter and going to their shows. As a director (not sure of their actual title) of Girls Rock Philly, which is work that is desperately needed in Philadelphia and valued by many. We have worked together in doing the work of NVC. I have always felt super connected and often deeply inspired by Sam.
In this moment, watching their response in my community to the death of George Floyd and others, I am floored. Watching a new leadership emerge and hearing a voice that is loud and clear and precious and ferocious move through them is humbling and awakening and calming for me all at the same time.
I trust them, I encourage them, I listen to them, I hear them. I love them.
